On 5 December 2015, Cops for Kids donated $15,000 to the Starlight Children’s Foundation at Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The money donated will go towards supporting Starlight’s peer support network ‘Livewire.’ Starlight provides the Livewire Program to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and it is also accessible in hospitals across Australia, allowing adolescents from around the country who share the same illnesses to connect. Adolescence is hard enough without the challenge of a serious illness or disability and Livewire is designed to combat loneliness and isolation by connecting these 10 – 20 year olds through a safe online community. It helps young people with a serious illness be social, build friendships, support each other and connect with others who understand what they are going through.
In conjunction with this donation CFK were able to secure the donation of several gaming consoles and games from EB Games. These consoles will be used to entertain 12-18 year olds who find themselves on the Women’s and Children’s Hospital wards. Special thanks goes to EB Games for their generous donation.
