$10,000 has been donated to Lion Hearts Learning. A South Australian registered children’s charity who provides a free playgroup/pre-school service to children impacted by cancer, whether it be their own, a sibling’s, or a parent’s. Children undergoing oncological treatment have severely compromised immune systems and must be kept quite isolated.
Mainstream community playgroup, and preschool facilities in Adelaide cater for high volume care and can find it difficult to provide the hygienic environment children with oncology require. These vulnerable children are denied the social, emotional and educational benefits of preschool. Most other “mainstream” services available to oncology children are aimed at older age brackets, so CFK is filling a gap that is very important by providing learning preparation for school entry.
