Cops for Kids is proud to have recently partnered with Cure4 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Cure4CF).
For children living with cystic fibrosis (CF), everyday life can be incredibly challenging. CF is a progressive, life-limiting condition that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Children often spend hours every day undergoing physiotherapy, taking medications, and managing complex treatment routines. They frequently experience lung infections, hospital admissions, fatigue, and interruptions to school, sport, and social activities. This condition impacts their families and communities.
Cure4CF is dedicated to accelerating life-changing and life-extending outcomes for children living with cystic fibrosis (CF). Cure4CF helps ensure that children living with CF have access to the latest advances in treatment and care.
By supporting Cure4CF, Cops for Kids will provide funding for innovative health technology through the Breathe Easy at Home Program. This program distributes the Spirohome Personal Spirometry devices to children and young people living with CF across South Australia. The spirometer is a portable medical device that measures lung function, allowing children and their families to monitor respiratory health from home. Early detection of lung decline enables faster clinical intervention, helping to prevent serious illness and avoid hospital admissions. Many children living with CF, particularly those in regional and remote communities, do not have access to a suitable home spirometer.
In a 3-year partnership, Cops for Kids will donate $75,000 ($25k per year) which will provide over 110 children per year with access to this life-changing respiratory monitoring technology. The program also contributes to a nationally significant cystic fibrosis research initiative, helping clinicians better understand disease progression while ensuring children receive the benefits of proactive, personalised care. Most importantly, every spirometer funded means a child has a greater opportunity to stay well, remain at school and participate in everyday activities.
With this landmark donation, Cops for Kids can put a vital piece of medical equipment directly into the hands of a South Australian child with a life-limiting illness, helping keep them out of hospital and allowing them to spend more time simply being a kid.
