Parents with children requiring neonatal care can sometimes require extra support, so to for women travelling from country areas. A charity called Parents Who Have Been There is providing that support.
The charity is made up of a volunteer group of parents who have had their own experience with their babies spending time in neonatal care. As parents who had been through this process, they understand the difficulties families experience when having a baby either born prematurely or having a baby in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Parents Who Have Been There provides neonatal playgroups as well as various support services. Part of these support services includes the supply of ‘Country Mum Essential Packs’. Mums in country areas may be required to leave their home, potentially in a crisis situation, and these packs include essential emergency supplies that allow parents to focus on what is truly important, their sick child.
Cops for Kids has donated $5,500 to ensure that these ‘Country Mum Essential Packs’ can continue to be provided and support those families.
